Searchable text

Many converters turn each page into a picture. This one keeps the book's text layer, so you can search and copy text in the PDF, in any language.

Chapters as bookmarks

The book's table of contents becomes PDF bookmarks, and links inside the book keep working.

Several books at once

Add as many DjVu files as you like. They convert one after another, each with its own download.

Works on any device

Windows, Mac, Linux, Chromebook, iPhone, iPad and Android: all you need is a recent browser.

Free, no limits

No sign-up, no watermark, no ads, and no limit on file size or number of books.

DjVu and PDF: why convert?

DjVu is a format made for scanned books, created at AT&T Labs in 1996. It splits each page into layers: sharp text and line art, a lighter background for pictures and paper, and a hidden text layer. That keeps hundreds of pages in a small file, which is why digital libraries and archives such as the Internet Archive have shared so many old books, textbooks and journals as .djvu files.

The catch is that few apps open DjVu, while PDF opens everywhere: on any computer, phone, tablet or e-reader such as Kindle, and in the web browser itself. Converting DjVu to PDF is the easiest way to read a DjVu book on a device that doesn't support it, to print it, or to share it.

This converter turns each DjVu page into a PDF page that looks the same: text stays sharp, pictures keep their colours, and the hidden text layer stays searchable. For a closer look at the two formats, see DjVu vs PDF.
