Why convert DjVu to PNG

No upload

Your books never leave your device. Nothing is sent to a server or stored anywhere.

Lossless

PNG keeps every pixel exactly, with no compression marks around letters and lines.

Made for line art

Diagrams, maps, formulas and sheet music stay clean, and black-and-white pages compress well.

Every page in one ZIP

Pages are numbered in order (book-001.png, book-002.png…), so they stay sorted in any folder or app.

Works on any device

Windows, Mac, Linux, Chromebook, iPhone, iPad and Android: all you need is a recent browser.

Free, no limits

No sign-up, no watermark, no ads, and no limit on file size or number of pages.

PNG or JPG?

PNG is lossless: the picture is exactly what the DjVu page shows, pixel for pixel. That makes it the right choice for pages you'll edit, clean up or print, and for line drawings, tables, maps and music, where JPG compression leaves faint smudges around thin lines.

JPG files are smaller and better for colour photos or for sending many pages at once. You can switch between PNG and JPG next to Format at any time; see also our DjVu to JPG converter.

To keep the book's searchable text, use the DjVu to PDF converter. To read the book, open it in our free online DjVu viewer.

DjVu to PNG: questions and answers

Yes. There's no sign-up, watermark or limit, because the conversion runs on your own device instead of our servers.

No. The converter runs in your browser, so your books never leave your device. You can even disconnect from the internet once the page has loaded.

PNG keeps every pixel exactly, while JPG throws away detail you can barely see. Black-and-white text pages stay fairly small as PNG; colour scans grow much larger. For colour pages, JPG is usually the better choice.

Standard draws pages at about 150 dpi, a good size for screens. High keeps the scan's own resolution, usually 300 to 600 dpi, for printing or zooming in.

Add the DjVu book and click Download: you get one ZIP file with a PNG for every page, numbered in order. Computers and phones open ZIP files without any extra app.

Open this page in Chrome, Edge, Safari or Firefox, drop your DjVu file on it and click Download. There's nothing to install, and it works the same way on Linux and Chromebook.

Yes. Open this page in your phone's browser, tap Choose files and pick the DjVu book. On iPhone, the ZIP is saved in the Files app; tap it to unpack the pictures.

The text is in the picture, as on the page, but you can't search or copy it in a PNG. To keep searchable text, use the DjVu to PDF converter, or extract it with DjVu to TXT.
