What's a DjVu file, and how do you open it?
A DjVu file (.djvu or .djv) is a scanned book or document. The format was created at AT&T Labs in 1996 to keep scans small: hundreds of pages often fit in a few megabytes, which is why so many old books, textbooks, journals and maps are shared as DjVu.
Most computers and phones can't open DjVu out of the box: Windows, macOS, iOS and Android have no built-in DjVu viewer, and web browsers don't open it either. This online DjVu viewer fills the gap. It reads the file with a DjVu engine that runs in your browser, so it works anywhere without installing anything.
To keep a PDF copy, use the DjVu to PDF converter. On iPhone and iPad, DjVu Reader opens DjVu books directly and remembers where you stopped.
