Privacy Policy
Last updated October 15, 2026
DjVu Reader is an app for reading DjVu documents on iPhone and iPad. It's built to keep your books private: there is no account, no advertising and no tracking. This policy explains the little information the app handles and why.
Your books and reading data
- The DjVu files you add are stored only on your device, in the app's own storage.
- Your reading progress, bookmarks, collections, reading status and settings are also stored only on your device.
- We never receive, read or upload your documents.
- Text recognition for scanned pages (Apple's Vision framework), Live Text and Read Aloud (Apple's speech voices) run on your device. Page text is not sent to us or to anyone else.
- If your device backs up to iCloud, this data may be included in your iCloud backup, under Apple's privacy policy.
Purchases
Payments for DjVu Reader Pro are handled by Apple through the App Store; we never see your payment details. To check whether you have Pro and to restore purchases, the app uses Apphud, a subscription service. Apphud receives your purchase and subscription history, an anonymous app user identifier, and basic device information such as the device model, iOS version, app version, language and country. This is used only to provide and restore your purchase. See Apphud's privacy policy.
Free upload count
To keep the free plan fair, the number of free uploads you've used is stored on your device and in your device's Keychain, so it isn't reset by reinstalling the app. It never leaves your device.
Wi‑Fi Transfer
When you turn on Wi‑Fi Transfer, the app runs a small web page on your local network so you can send files from a computer. Files go directly from your computer to your device; nothing passes through our servers. The page stops when you leave the Wi‑Fi Transfer screen.
What we don't do
- No analytics or usage tracking inside the app.
- No advertising, and no sharing or selling of personal information.
- No tracking across other companies' apps or websites.
Contacting us
If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message, and use it only to reply to you. You can ask us to delete your messages at any time.
Deleting your data
Deleting a book in the app removes it and its reading data. Deleting the app removes everything stored in the app. To ask about data held by Apphud, or about any of your privacy rights, contact us at the address below.
Children
DjVu Reader is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
