PDF or DjVu: when does converting help?
DjVu was made for scanned pages. It keeps the sharp black text of a page apart from its background and compresses each in the way that suits it. That's why a scanned book that takes hundreds of megabytes as a PDF often fits in a few dozen as DjVu.
Converting helps most with scanned PDFs: books, journals, notes and documents that were scanned or photographed. PDFs made on a computer, like reports or ebooks with real text, are usually small already, so converting them saves little space. See DjVu vs PDF for the differences.
To read the DjVu, open it in our free online DjVu viewer on any device. On iPhone and iPad, DjVu Reader opens DjVu books directly, with search and Read Aloud.
